El huracán Irma es ya el más fuerte jamás registrado en el Atlántico, dado que ha sostenido como ningún otro vientos de casi 300 kilómetros por hora y generado más energía que los ocho ciclones que han afectado previamente la misma zona, según la Organización Mundial de la Meteorología (OMM).
